Welcome to the online press kit for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work
Meet the Workplace Superstars!
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day Is the Fourth Thursday in April
The Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® foundation helps girls and boys across the nation discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life. After nearly three decades, this groundbreaking program is heading into the future with more energy, commitment, and drive than ever.
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work partners with youth all year long through their engaging web presence that integrates STEM education. Recent curriculum programs have featured activities from PBS Kids' Design Squad Global and The Chevron STEM Zone.
This national public education foundation connects what children learn at school with the adult working world, encouraging girls and boys across the country to dream without limitations and think imaginatively about their family, work, and community lives.
COVID-19 Event Update
For their annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day event, the group works with more than 40 million youth and adult participants in over 3 million U.S. workplaces, as well as participants from more than 200 countries all over the world.
The theme for 2020 is “MEET THE WORKPLACE SUPERSTARS!!”
Naturally, this year's event is unfolding in a completely unique way from past events due to the coronavirus pandemic. Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day 2020 is a work-from-home opportunity to for parents and their children to connect.

Teaching Kids to Take Charge of Their Lives
Who do kids count on? They may look to friends, teammates, family, mentors, and teachers to support them through life’s challenges. And in return, they are there for others who count on them. Experiencing being part of a workplace team reveals a new kind of responsibility. Children discover that when each team member acts responsibly, it makes the workplace more successful.
Designed to be more than a career day, the Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work program goes beyond the average practice of "shadowing" an adult. Exposing girls and boys to what a parent or mentor in their lives does during the work day is important, but showing them the value of their education, helping them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life, providing them an opportunity to share how they envision the future, and allowing them to begin steps toward their end goals in a hands-on and interactive environment is key to their success.
Participants are encouraged to post video, photos, and other online posts about how they have been influenced in their professional roles, as well as post conversations with children on topics such as education planning, self discovery, and bullying prevention. By bringing girls and boys together, this program contributes to creating a more equitable world — at home, at school, and in the workplace.
